The 2023 Winter Carnival brought joy to all ages but especially the toddlers!  At very affordable prices.  Kudos to the volunteers who organized so many play stations, backdrops, and decorations.  They need to hear our appreciation!  And Kudos to the WVFD for organizing and running the food concession.  Please consider volunteering in October of next year to make more fun and lighter work … probably to be held in February 2024.

Playground Renovation 2021

The Williamsburg Revitalization and Economic Development Committee

held their first volunteer clean-up day at the former Williamsburg School on July 16, 2022. The goal was to clean up vandalism, beautify the property in advance of the Community Fair, and to maintain the usability of the property ahead of potential revitalization activities.  Click image for full text and print file.

Playground Renovation 2021

The 2021 Williamsburg Playground Renovation Project

has provided a larger play area next to the Community Building.  We have some new equipment, fresh coatings and repairs on older equipment, show new curbs, and fresh chips on the ground with weed barrier.  Funding was provided by a grant awarded to the Williamsburg Community Action Group by the Greenbrier County Arts And Recreation Grant Program.  The Williamsburg Thrift Shop and the Williamsburg Ruritans pitched in with additional funds as the project expanded beyond the original design.  WV Paving showed up with heavy equipment to remove old ground coverings and smooth the area.  Local volunteers donated many, many hours of brains and brawn for planning, grant application, ordering, receiving, and hard labor.  A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped create a fun and safe play area for our little ones.  Jo Long coordinated this project with muscle power from Danny Driggers, Ellen Driggers, Lee Gallion, Rodger Hedrick, and Bill Zumpfe.      6/2021

Bathroom Improvements Completed

Partitions have been rearranged to provide better handicap access, a privacy screen for the men’s entrance was added, and ceramic tile on the floors replaced the deteriorating linoleum squares.  Many thanks to Jack Goodman for coordinating this project; Jill McClung for acquiring the stainless steel partitions; and the Williamsburg Community Fund for funding.  The Williamsburg Community Fund was established in 2018 by the Board of Directors of the Northern Greenbrier Health Clinic and is administered by The Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation.   4/2/2021

First Annual Winter Carnival was a great success.

An amazing wonderland was created by many long-and-hard working volunteers to bring mid-winter joy and cheer to all.  There were many games with many prizes, Kings and Queens were crowned, a couple of Old Man Winters kept everyone in stitches, face painting for all who dared, raffle doorprizes, and a food concession for the hungry.  A big thank you to the organizers, sponsors, and participants for making such a joyful (and economical) event!  Hope to see you again next year!  1/11/2020
